Cosmetology

R.L. Turner's Cosmetology course is a three year program approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. CFB ISD provides high school students with the required 500 academic hours, through their core classes, and 1,000 hours upon completion of the cosmetology program. Our student professionals will have a better understanding of the knowledge, skills and training needed to succeed in the cosmetology profession. Our curriculum offers hands on and classroom instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative and productive career-oriented activities that will prepare them for the workforce. This curriculum has been designed in compliance with the rules of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and Public Secondary Programs for High School Students.

Courses

Intro to Cosmetology (9th - 10th)

Students will have a better understanding of the knowledge, skills and training needed to succeed in the cosmetology profession. Enrollment is open to all incoming CFB ISD Freshman & Sophomores.

Cosmetology 1 (10th - 11th)

Students will dive deeper in understanding hands-on skills through a sequential set of learning steps that address specific tasks necessary for state board preparation, graduation and entry level job skills. Sophomores & Juniors. Prerequisites Intro to Cosmetology

Cosmetology 2 (11th - 12th)

Students will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative and productive career-oriented activities that will prepare them to open a business and service clientele.Juniors & Seniors. Prerequisites Cosmetology I

Practicum of Human Services (12th)

Content is designed to meet the occupational preparation needs and interests of cosmetology students who are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. Prerequisites Cosmetology II and 1,000 clock hours.

Brian Rodriguez

Brian Rodriguez is a proud product of CFB ISD. He graduated from Newman Smith High School and went on to become a licensed hairdresser at Paul Mitchell in 2007. Brian loves introducing young people to the Cosmetology Industry and giving them the opportunity to get licensed and enter the profession before graduation.

Traci Stock

Traci Stock, an accomplished cosmetologist, obtained her cosmetology license from South Garland High School in 2005. Having worked in a variety of salon settings, including franchise salons, luxury spas, and barber shops, she possesses a wealth of experience in the field of cosmetology. However, her greatest passion lies in imparting her knowledge and expertise to aspiring cosmetology students, enabling them to reach their full potential and limitless opportunities.

Janay Mitchell

Janay Mitchell is a Mississippi native with over a decade of experience as a licensed professional. She decided to attend Delta Beauty College and graduated in 2010 with her cosmetology license. She loves everything about the cosmetology industry but found her greatest love in education and growing people in the industry. She attended Goshen School of Cosmetology to obtain her Cosmetology Instructor's license. Her motto is "Cosmetology is to people what concrete is to construction...the foundation of confidence."
