Welding

The Welding program of study focuses on preparing students to be industry ready in the field of welding and metal fabrication. Students will learn industry safety standards and learn to weld with hands on experience in the three main welding processes;GMAW (mig), SHMAW (stick), and GTAW (tig). They will also utilize the tools accompanied with the trade such as cutting torches, files, grinders, levels, and squares. Advanced students can even work their way up to learning how to pipe weld.

Courses

Introduction to welding (9th)

Introduces students on how to be safe in a shop environment, and the basics of how to weld with mig and stick (Structural only).

Welding 1 (10th )

Growing on the students previous experience, students will continue stick welding working towards pipe and introduce TIG welding.

Welding 2 (11th)

Students have an advanced knowledge of welding and we dive deeper into pipe welding, building projects, and reading, blue prints.

Practicum in Manufacturing (12th)

Practicum in Manufacturing is intended focus on advanced level of welding. The instructor will meet with students to identify areas of interest in welding processes and then work with each student to achieve the personal goals and professional competencies in areas like oxy-fuel and plasma-arc cutting, shielded metal ark (STICK) welding in various positions, metal arc and flux core arc (MIG) welding processes, and gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding processes.

These are average annual salaries, the amount of money a welder makes is directly related to the effort and hours a person is willing to work. Overtime is readily available in many jobs.
