Principles of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (9th)
Principles of Agriculture is designed to give students an overview of the various industries within the Agriculture Industry. Students will learn about student leadership, Animal Industry, Plant Industry, and Natural Resources.
Equine Science (10th option 1)
Students will gain an in-depth look in the realm of the Equine Industry. (1 semester)
Small Animal Management (10th option 1)
This course allows students to gain knowledge and skills when working with small animals (dogs, cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, ect.) Students have the opportunity to gain an certification in Canine Care. Students will gain hands-on experience with proper animal restraint, assisting with emergency situations, and various training techniques. (1 semester)
Livestock Production (10th Option 2 or 11th option 1)
Students will gain an in-depth look at the various species within the Livestock industry. Students will gain experience with proper management techniques utilized within the Animal sector of the Agriculture Industry.
Veterinary Medical Applications Applications (11th option 2)
Students gain the knowledge and skills on how to assist a Veterinarian on a daily basis. Each student has the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the area of surgical assisting, clinical examinations, laboratory procedures, and hospital procedures. This course is a double blocked course. (2credit)
Practicum of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (12th Option 1)
Students that have taken and passed the prerequisites courses will be allowed the opportunity to intern with a local Veterinarian. Students that successfully complete their course work and required hours through certification will be eligible to take the Certified Veterinary Assistant Test.
Advanced Animal Science (12th Option 2)
Students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the various livestock species. Through this course students will also investigate the various methods used to ensure safe handling of livestock and the impact disease and parasites have on our animals. (Counts as a science course)
